James McKenna: Music

Radio

(James McKenna)
2006-02-01
Lyrics by J. McKenna, Music by J.McKenna and B. Schleifer,
One night a gig in Boston, I met a girl in town from California. I visited her once in LA. I stayed on in Boston, playing in bars and finishing college, and the memory of her and the idea that people can find some connection that stretches of over distance helped me write this song. As with most of my songs, it's hyperbole, based on truth but not set in stone.

She and others helped me make my leap to CA, so if you like this song and you know who she is, say "thank you"
Lonely, I've been tripping on a memory
and slowly, you came loose from what was meant to be
when you moved your life 14 hours away
and all I can do is just beg for the DJ to play
all that I need to say

You should know just how I feel about you
but if you still have a reason to doubt
You only have to hear this song as it's playing on your radio

Only you can shake this big ol' weight from me
well now don't be afraid of love
don't you keep away from me
You know who you are - I don't have to put your name in a song
I don't know where you are - I only know I'm not the same when you're gone
And it's been far too long

You should know just how I feel about you
but if you still have a reason to doubt
You only have to hear this song as it's playing on your radio

I know you're worried 'bout the sapace in between
but it's really not as far as it seems
You only have to hear this song as it's playing on your radio

I know you're no where near me
but I thought that, tonight, you might hear me out
One more time, one last time, for me...
